Living Wage BC
A better way to pay
At Living Wage BC, we believe that fair pay builds stronger communities.
Our vision is a British Columbia where every worker earns enough to thrive, not just survive.
The living wage is the hourly rate a worker needs to make to cover life’s essentials. It’s the tipping point between financial stress and stability, and a pathway out of working poverty and into full participation in civic, social and cultural life.
Today, nearly 500 employers across the province have made the commitment to pay a living wage. Together, we’re building a fairer economy – one job, one worker, one community at a time.
How we support workers
- Collaborating with local partners to calculate living wage rates in more than 30 communities across the province
- Certifying employers who commit to paying their staff and contractors a living wage
- Advocating for supportive government policies that help families meet their everyday needs
